Breanna Pennock

Breanna grew up under the Rockies in Lindon, Utah. She graduated from Timpanogos High School and went to BYU-Hawaii to play on their soccer team before her mission. After serving in the Portugal, Porto mission, she finished her Associate degree at BYU-Hawaii and transferred to BYU. She is currently a junior studying accounting at BYU and wants to start her own business one day. When Breanna isn’t studying, she’s coaching soccer for Celtic FC, running her personal training business, or working at HEFY.

Her favorite things include hiking, surfing, reading, playing soccer, exploring Lake Powell and adventuring with her friends in Hawaii. She also loves to travel and was grateful to go as a Trip Leader to Mozambique this summer where she fell in love with the African people and the HEFY program.

Karlie Christensen

Karlie was raised in South Jordan, Utah. After attending one semester at the Univerisity of Utah, she was called to serve a Spanish-speaking mission in Houston, Texas where she was both impressed and inspired by the diversity of the city. Karlie quickly came to appreciate the cultures of people from all over the world - especially those from Central and South American countries. After her mission, she returned to the University of Utah as a full-time student pursuing an HBA in International Studies with minors in Spanish and Disability Studies. After graduating, Karlie plans to complete a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.

Karlie enjoys spending her time outdoors and with people. She loves wakeboarding, hiking, drawing, singing, and attempting to play the guitar. Karlie works as a private Spanish tutor and as a professional DJ and MC with Laughing Gravy Entertainment. She loves working for HEFY as it helps her to love others and the Savior more fully. Karlie is grateful to be involved with such an amazing organization and can’t wait to serve as a trip leader this upcoming summer in Cusco, Perú.

Lauren McBride

Lauren grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado. Currently, she is studying Geography with an emphasis in Tourism Studies at Brigham Young University and is also working on a minor in Non-Profit Management. During high school, she was a builder on HEFY trips to Paraguay and the Dominican Republic. In 2017 she volunteered as an English teacher for four months in Weihai, China and fell in love with her kiddos there. These experiences helped nudge her in the direction she wanted to focus her schooling in.

In her heart she is a part-time student and full-time river rafter, so as long as the weather is warm and there is at least a trickle of water you'll find her working for a rafting company out of Moab, Utah. She loves doing any outdoor activities that make her mom nervous, dreaming of new places to travel to, rocking out at concerts, and making new friends while serving. She is so grateful to be able to give back as a fellow to a program that changed her life so much!

Pedro Rodriguez

Pedro was born in Mexico City but raised in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo on the south coast of the Pacific Ocean. Because of his parents work he had the opportunity to travel to several main touristic places in Mexico and internationally, where the immersion into different cultures, become a learner of the culture and appreciate the rich diversity on the world started to be a priority on his life.

Pedro converted to the LDS church in 2010, months later attended an LDS Boarding High School and served a full-time mission in Mexico City. He recently obtained an Associate degree in Business Intelligence from LDS Business College and currently pursuing a Bachelors degree at the University of Utah. He believes HEFY is an experience every single person needs to go through because of the great life changing for better he got out of it as a trip leader.

Reina Trejo

Reina grew up in Austin, Texas, but has loved living by the beautiful mountains of Utah for the past four years. She is finishing up her senior year at Brigham Young University where she is majoring in Experience Design and Management with a minor in Nonprofit Management. While serving a mission in Bulgaria, she found her passion for working with youth and learning about other cultures. The people of Bulgaria taught her how to truly love, and they will always have a piece of her heart. HEFY has helped Reina to continue to live her dream of helping youth and she couldn’t be more excited to be involved in a program that impacts so many lives for the better. She served in Belize last summer with HEFY and will be going to Lesvos, Greece this summer to work in refugee and gypsy camps with YRC. Reina loves sports (especially soccer), violin, hiking, reading, and anything that makes her smile. Her claim to fame is her collection of four very valuable BYU intramural championship shirts.
