Costa Rica lies between Nicaragua and Panama in Central America. It is one of the most biologically diverse countries in the world. Costa Rica is named for its "Rich Coast" because it has some of the most beautiful and untouched coastlands on both the Pacific and the Atlantic sides. Costa Rica was home to many ancient indigenous tribes, such as the Burruca, famous for their wooden war masks.

Costa Rica is challenged by vast economic disparity and poor access to quality education. Nearly one quarter of Costa Ricans live in poverty, and almost 10 percent live in extreme poverty, defined as the inability to meet basic food needs. These challenges are fostered by the country's decaying infrastructure in both urban and rural regions.

When you visit Costa Rica, you’ll experience bright blue waters, pristine beaches, the only tropical rainforest in the northern hemisphere, volcanoes, and indigenous villages. It is famous for some of the best surfing in the world and promises to delight the adventurous spirit.

You will visit the Costa Rica temple right in the heart of San Jose, one of the safest capital cities in the world.

Costa Rica is the second-largest exporter of bananas in the world. Pura Vida is the national slogan, meaning "pure life." It is one of the most eco-friendly countries, and more than 25% of the land is dedicated to national parks, reserves, and wildlife refuges. Costa Rica is also home to wild sloths.
